Back when I was pregnant, I used Red Heart acrylic in the colors of the rainbow to make a granny square blanket. I didn't get very far into the project because as I was putting the squares together with some black yarn it dawned on me. This blanket was absolutely hideous. It literally looked like 1970 came over to my house and puked into my lap. So that project was chunked and since then I've only made two other granny square blanket and deemed it was not for me.
Despite my granny-square-hating-ass I am in complete love with this project. So far I have used 5 hanks of All Things Heather sock yarn. Not too thin, soft and the colors are so cheery! This will be another blanket for Lily, though I was hoping to make it a little bigger for her. Most of the yarn I scored on Ravelry and I haven't had much luck getting more.
I get exactly 15 six inch squares from each 360yd hank. I only have to crochet 20 more blocks until I can assemble them together. The only problem is crocheting is very taxing on my wrists. Apparently, when I crochet my hook and yarn flies everywhere. Instead of moving my fingers I rotate my wrists. I don't know why I do this and can't find another style that is comfortable for me to use. So after a few days of crocheting I have to put the hook down for a week or so.
Which explains why I knit a whole lot more than I crochet. I could knit all day without my arms or shoulders getting tired. It does bother me a little that my blog is more of a knitting site peppered with crochet.
Still working on the Baby Pinwheel blanket. I'm already in the middle of the next color change, so maybe this will be done by the middle of next month. Not sure of the exact stitch count but its at least 600. 600 stitches that take freaking forever to finish. I'm not sure who this will be for, another blanket for Lily?
Pretty Handmaidens!

This is all that remains of the Cable Comfort Throw. Turns out that my other two panels were two different lengths - I had fudged a cable on each one. So, here he is, last of the Mohicans, for now at least until I do away with the disappointment.
I'm also not allowed to knit in public anymore. I completely fudged the Montego Bay scarf and didn't put in a lifeline. I don't know what it is, perhaps I get too distracted or have to keep more of my eyes on Lily but this is like the third time this has happened! When I messed up the MSCS I was knitting, in public, in line for the new Harry Potter movie. The Robot Illusion scarf has also been frogged. I didn't like the cream color against the blue and I don't like using Wool of the Andes for a scarf. The only craft I will be doing in public from now on is crochet, cause when the hook falls out there is no need to panic. Thats the great thing about crochet, its so easy to just ziiiip and fix that mistake. Which brings me to...
Okay ladies, what is the beef with knitters and crocheters? I've seen this topic over many a forum boards and its still prevalent. I know, Dear readers (all two of you) of mine are open to both ways but theres still that little snarky voice in some, perhaps snobbier than others who just have a problem with it. They don't like it and don't want it in their knitterly doses. Bah humbug to you, you star-bellied Sneetch!
So that brings me to the new name of my blog: Practical Bicraftual. I'm practical (or so I like to think I am...disregard the fleece artist sock blanket I have in mind). I knit and crochet. I just plain love yarn.

Rina is also very sad about this. I received my Harmony needles yesterday and mmm...they're purdy. I thought I had put this back in my basket but when I got up from the bed it was underneath my knee and went *pap!* They don't even have this size in stock anymore! I will say though, that I would have been surprised had I not broke them with my weight and all. Stupid butt. Other than that, they're smooth, marvelous and darker than you think.
Here is my latest attempt to use up all that Knit Picks yarn. I was going to do a ripple like the pink one but with these same colors and then do a blanket with the rest. But thats a lot of time spent with one type of yarn and had the words Zzzzzz written all over it. So, I decided to do a granny throw, blanket, afghan, thing that covers the body for my Secret Pal on Crochetville. Hmm...thats pretty much it. I haven't had a lot of time to craft since I've got my hands on The Elder Scrolls:Oblivion for Xbox 360. But then this certain Xbox turned out to be in the 33% failure rate and we're having to send it off to Microsoft. Huzzah.
10 thingies of Blue Sky Organic Cotton in Bone. What a luscious feel this has! I couldn't decide on this or Knit Picks Shine Worsted for a blanket, but everyone on Ravelry opted for the organic. I got some Shine Worsted to see how that felt and its a pretty hard choice on which I like better. They're both wonderful to touch. If I could compare it to anything, it would be getting pictures developed - you know, having to choose what kind of paper you want. Shine Worsted would be glossy and Organic Cotton would be the matte.I'm still pondering as to what pattern I'm going to use, definitely not the Tiramisu blanket. Perhaps a sc, ch 1, sk next st, sc for the body and some frilly lacy uber nice border.
