Danica and a WIP
I haven't posted in a good long while, mostly due to Ravelry and feeling out different projects. Oh, Lily has learned to crawl so no more knitting while I watch her play. She takes one look at my hands and bolts to grab it. No accidents yet, but I'm sure my Knit Picks circulars don't appreciate the tugs. I've got a feeling my craft time is going to go down even more. Its crazy how much they want to move!
Babies are amazing. Berfore, they didn't interest me one bit. I never saw myself having kids one day, hell, I'd never changed a diaper til she was born. Then I found out I was pregnant and my entire world went completely different. I read 6 (count'em) baby/pregnancy books to prepare myself. Then she was born, such a huge surge of emotions. Man, you think you know what love is? I guess it just goes to show that you'd be surprised at how maternal you can be.
Yes, I finished Danica! (Needs blocking, though!) I used three balls of Patons SWS in Natural Blue. Its riddled with mistakes, uneven guage and I really should of went down one, two needle sizes. I'm not that impressed over it and I'll probably give it away to a friend. I will be doing this pattern again - I think alternating Patons SWS in Naturally Green and Naturally Pink would look great.
I've already started another project, its a Robot Illusion Scarf! The pattern is here (pdf). I'm using two balls each of Knit Picks Wool of the Andes in Cloud and Chambray. Its such a fun knit seeing the image pop out. I love it - as I was knitting I couldn't help but think of a SNL skit about Robot Insurance.
With illusion knitting, its best to go down a needles size so I'm using size 6. Well, I didn't feel like using circulars and the only straight ones I had were Boye. So I casted on and now I regret it. Every time the needles scrape against each other I have to grit my teeth. Its like someone running their nails down a chalkboard - except its like half as bad but worse at the same time cause your doing it over and over and over again. Er, I think I need to invest in some decent straight needles. Or just buy more Denise cords.
